The past 4th of July weekend left Americans in despair once again as multiple shootings occurred amidst the Independence Day festivities. Cathleen Trigg-Jones takes us through the tragedy that happened in Highland Park, IL and the jarring difference in the way police officers treated the shooter, a white man, and Jayland Walker, a black man who was killed after being shot 60 times by officers after fleeing from a traffic stop. Plus, it’s BIPOC mental health awareness month, so Cathleen goes over the various factors people of color go through that add to the stresses of life and increase risk of mental illness.
